In 2005 Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council initiated the work to establish Southwest One. In 2006 the Avon and Somerset Police joined the partnership. Each partner was keen to improve their services and deliver better value for money for their council tax payers.
IBM, the global business services provider, signed a contract with the two councils in October 2007. The Police then became a Partner in March 2008.
Both councils and the police have ambitious plans to improve services to their customers which cannot be delivered without efficiency savings. Therefore, using the experience of the Councils and the Police and combining this with the private sector expertise of IBM, we are delivering an exciting combination of improved services and better value for money for council tax payers.
