Revenues and Benefits Service

 The Revenues and Benefits Service is responsible for the:

• Billing and recovery of Council Tax from 48,000 domestic properties;
• Billing and recovery of Business Rates (NNDR) from 3,500 businesses;
• Billing and recovery of the Council’s Business Improvement District (BID) levy from 800 town centre businesses;
• Processing and payment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit of £29m to 8,200 residents needing financial help with their rent and Council Tax;
• Recovery of benefit overpayments
• Prevention and detection of fraud within Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit claims and under the “right to buy” scheme and home improvement grants;
